Thyme Care Appoints Michael Markowicz as Chief Legal Officer
Healthcare Legal Expert with Leadership Roles at Evergreen Nephrology, Signify Health, CVS, and Aetna Joins Thyme Care to Drive Value-Based Oncology Care Expansion
NASHVILLE – January 14, 2025 – Thyme Care, the leading value-based cancer care enabler, today announced the appointment of Michael Markowicz as its Chief Legal Officer. A seasoned healthcare legal veteran, Michael brings deep experience in value-based care, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions to Thyme Care’s leadership team during a period of significant growth.
“From our very first interaction with Michael, it was clear that he not only shared our passion for improving the patient experience in healthcare but also brought the legal expertise necessary to navigate complex value-based contracts. His proven track record of guiding value-based care organizations through periods of rapid expansion, along with his extensive experience at Aetna and CVS, uniquely positions him to excel in this role as we embark on another year of ambitious growth at Thyme Care,” said Robin Shah, co-founder and chief executive officer of Thyme Care.
Before joining Thyme Care, Michael served as General Counsel at Evergreen Nephrology, leading the legal, compliance, privacy, and advocacy functions at a value-based care organization that partners with nephrologists and health plans to improve the quality and reduce the cost of care for patients with late-stage kidney disease. Before Evergreen, he held the role of Deputy General Counsel at Signify Health, where he led the legal team supporting the company’s value-based and episodes of care segment and supported its $564 million initial public offering in 2021.
Earlier in his career, Markowicz worked at CVS/Aetna, where he held several senior legal roles. At CVS Health, he led legal teams focused on value-based contracting across the commercial and Medicaid markets. During his tenure at Aetna, he supported corporate development and played a key role in CVS Health’s acquisition of Aetna, including the divestiture of Aetna’s Medicare Part D business.
“I can’t think of anything more important and inspiring than joining Thyme Care’s mission to improve outcomes for people living with cancer. From my first conversations with Robin and the rest of the leadership team, it was clear Thyme Care had the vision and expertise to make a profound impact on cancer care. I’m eager to bring my experience and my passion for transforming the future of healthcare to Thyme Care,” said Markowicz.
